A Brief History

Mullion Village Hall, situated on Nansmellyon Road, is a prominent and important building to local village  life. It operates as a registered charity and is used for social and recreational purposes for the benefit of the community. We owe its existence to the foresight of Cecilia Daumas Plantin, a  Mullion resident, who, in January 1932 entered into a 1000 year lease with the then landowner, Lord Clifden, and organized the building of the hall “…for the advantage and benefit of the female inhabitants of the parish of Mullion.” The hall was built and officially opened in December 1932 with the name “The Mullion Hall and Women’s Institute”.

In 1962 the 1000 year lease was brought to an end by the gifting of the freehold interest. The freehold title deeds are now registered in the name of the Parish Council. The day to day running of the hall, building maintenance and administration is all undertaken and/or overseen by a small dedicated management committee of volunteers.

In 2018, following consultation with Mullion residents, it was agreed that the hall should reflect changing times and be all inclusive for use by everyone in Mullion Village (men, women and children) a subtle change in name to simply Mullion Village Hall then followed.
